Personal Travel highlight of a recent trip: On a Seattle round trip cruise to Alaska I flew in an 8-passenger seaplane through the Misty Fjords. We landed in a remote lake in the area and saw a mother bear with three cubs grazing on the shore.
Favorite thing I try to do when I travel: Find new restaurants to relay to my clients.
Best Travel Advice: Make copies of all your documents (passport, tickets, hotel vouchers, drivers license) before you depart. Leave a copy at home with a relative or friend and bring another copy with you, keeping it in a different location than the originals.
Best Client Rescue: My best client had invited two sisters and a friend on a cruise from New York to Bermuda to celebrate a big promotion . Unfortunately, they happened to sail the day before Hurricane Sandy hit the shores of New Jersey. After one beautiful day at sea, the Atlantic Ocean became a nightmare of violent waves and unbearable winds that kept them from engaging in any shipboard activities – even dining. By the time the ship arrived in Bermuda – to rainy, overcast skies – they had “had enough”. I immediately booked them on a flight back to New York, cancelled all their Bermuda activities and remainder of the cruise, and they spent a few great days in “The Big Apple” which had seen the last of the storm.
Most memorable Client trip: The 50th birthday of a good client for two doctors and their family, in a marvelous villa in Tuscany.
Favorite Destination: France and Italy.
Dream Trip: The “Palace on Wheels” – train trip through India.
Bucket List to do’s: Southern Italy, my Father’s birthplace on the Adriatic coast of Italy, Grasse (France), Grand Canyon and other U.S. National Parks, more Mediterranean cruises.
