Signature Hotel Experience – Eau Palm Beach
Hi, my name is Karen Kelley. I’m a senior travel consultant with Preferred Travel of Naples. Recently, I had the opportunity to visit the Eau Hotel in West Palm Beach. Eau is spelled E-A-U and means water in French. The hotel was originally a Ritz Carlton but 4 years ago the owners decided they wanted to manage it privately and give it a different vibe, which means it’s definitely more Florida-like.
When you check-in, you are given a glass of champagne, you complete the paperwork and then you go immediately to your room. The rooms were designed by Jonathan Adler, so they have a fabulous, modern yet comfortable vibe. Very Florida like, all turquoise, blue and yellow. All the rooms have balconies with tables and chairs, very comfortable accommodations. They also have larger family lanai suites if people need that.
This hotel is definitely worth the additional amount and visit the club lounge. Phillip has been the club manager for 12 years and he alone is worth the club visit. He’s very personal, funny and just a great guy. I’m sure most clients come there just for Phillip. If you take the lounge package, you get breakfast, lunch, cocktails and even desserts and the setting is very pretty.
Also, there is a kid’s club, the AquaNuts, for ages 5-12. They have councilors and a great place to hang out, science activities both inside and out. For the older kids, they have COAST, which has outdoor activities, a place to meet new friends and a disc jockey booth where they can spin their own records.
The Mediterranean restaurant is Temple Orange, offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. We had Sunday brunch there. It has everything you could think of there with a Mediterranean accent. You can also dine indoors or out. By the pool, they also have another great restaurant that has recently been redone and it faces the beach.
Speaking of pools, there are two pools there; one is an adult’s only, which is a great plus. It is worth going to the hotel completely for the spa. A day at the spa is the perfect indulgence. In fact, the theme of the spa is personal indulgence. You enter the spa and you light a candle then you put it in a floating spa and then make a special self-indulgent wish and that is the beginning of your day. They even serve little mini cupcakes before your services. They have a co-ed area outside that has hanging chairs, places to rest your feet in. It’s a very relaxing, tranquil day and a great value especially in the month of September.
