Travel Consultant Experience – Harmony of the Seas

My name is Gretchen Berger and I’m the marketing coordinator here at Preferred Travel.  I’m taking you to the Royal Caribbean’s new ship the Harmony of the Seas.  It’s the largest cruise ship in the world at the moment.  I took a two-day trip to the Bahamas just as soon as the ship came out to take a look around to know all the amazing things it has to offer.

So, the ship is enormous and I’ve never been on a ship that large before.  I was in awe of all the different things they had on there.  There’s zip lining, rock climbing, shows, pools, adults only areas, kids only areas.  There are seven different neighborhoods.  On the ship there is a Central Park, which is a beautiful park area with shops and cafes.  There’s the Promenade.  There’s the boardwalk that has a carousel; it looks like Coney Island.

We left late afternoon on day one and we were there in the morning so we had the whole day in Nassau and then returned the next day.

Oh the food was so good.  We ended up eating most of our meals in the main dining room.  Absolutely phenomenal.  I ate so much!  I had steak.  I had lobster.  I had escargot for the first time.  It was very exciting.  They also had tastings, all the specialty restaurants.  Because it was such a short cruise, we didn’t really have time for the specialty restaurants, so we had tastings as we walked around the ship.

So, there are quite a few specialty restaurants that are available by reservation.  They have steak houses, Italian cuisine that’s actually Jamie Oliver’s restaurant.  They also had a wonderland restaurant that was amazing.  It was unusual cuisine, more modern.  So, they had the foams and things you wouldn’t try normally.  I took a look at all those restaurants and did tastings.

I would recommend this cruise ship to a variety of different people.  The ship itself is really a destination.  There are so many things to do.  Something for everybody.  So, couples can go, girls trips can go, friends can go and families would love it.  There’s so much to do, you’ll never get bored.  But there are also adult’s only areas where you’re not going to have kids running around everywhere.  There are even adult’s only pools where you can relax and unwind without worrying about screaming kids.

So, one of the highlights of my trip was the bionic bar.  Instead of bartenders its robot arms.  You order your drink on an iPad and it tells you how its being made, every time it adds an ingredient to the drink and then when its completed you go up and use your room card and its brought to you on a conveyer belt.  It was so much fun and such an interesting way to order drinks!  It’s the best part because you don’t have to worry about getting the bartender’s attention, pushing your way through all these people crowding at the bar.  You order it on your iPad and you sit back and wait.  It tells you where you are in line.  It was so much fun.

For a ship this large, there are a variety of different staterooms.  From an inside cabin to a 3 bedroom Presidential suite with a family-sized balcony.  There are also staterooms with different views.  You could have a balcony over looking the water.  You could also have a balcony overlooking the boardwalk or a balcony overlooking Central Park, which was absolutely beautiful.

During our experience, we were able to see two different shows, one each night.  The first night we went and saw aqua theatre, which is an acrobatic show over the water so you get to have people jumping from high diving boards doing tricks and landing in this very very tiny pool as well as people doing more Circ Du Soleil things.  And then the second night we went to Greece, which I loved growing up so that was a real treat for me.  It was very well done.  I was very impressed with the large scale they were able to do that on the ship.
