Travel Consultant Experience – India & Dubai
By Kristina Gear
Hello I’m Kristina Gear assistant to the president of Preferred Travel, Wilma Boyd. I’m here to tell you a little bit about my trip to Dubai and India.
Last April Olga, the agency manager and I visited Dubai and India with a group of Signature Travel Agency owners and visited many of the landmarks the Middle East had to offer. I’ve always been interested in visiting the Middle East because you hear so much about it and its cultures. It was very interesting to learn what the culture was really about. There’s a lot of misconceptions in the United States about that area and it was it was nice to clarify.
We went on an organized tour with Abercrobie & Kent and we did travel in a large group of about 50 people. And while some may be afraid of what that would entail it actually was very pleasant because all the details sorted out for us. We did not have to wait in line. We did not have to fight the crowds. We were scooted to the front everywhere we went and that’s one of the benefits of booking through a travel agency especially Preferred Travel.
The highlights that stick out most in my mind in Dubai were the dunes bashing is what they call it where you ride in a 4 x 4 Jeep through the desert and they travel at a relatively high rate of speed depending on the passengers in your in your Jeep and literally bash the dunes. They hit the curves really fast make it feel like you’re on a roller coaster. Our driver even had his Arabic music on so it really added to the experience. And the other highlight of Dubai was visiting the 148th floor of the tallest building in the world.
And my highlight in India is a very obvious one, but it was the Taj Mahal. Learning the history behind it and learning that people traveled from far and wide in India even if it’s only trip they take in their entire life to see the Taj Mahal.
People that live there are so amazingly nice and so accommodating and so willing to serve. They also believe in karma. That’s a very very interesting part of their culture. There’s no theft. There’s no crime because they believe it will come back around.
Of course, my first word of advice is book through Preferred Travel to ensure that you are covered from beginning to end and if you run into any trouble you’ll have someone behind you. And then my other word of advice is you have to have an open mind. Anywhere you go in the world whether its Germany, India, Cuba anyway you have to go in with an open mind because we live in a Melting Pot and we adjust to the way we live our daily lives but everybody’s life is different. Every different everybody has a different daily routine. Everybody has a different way of dealing with situations and we just have to go in with an open mind.
